Emma Richardson For St. Paul’s, Toronto
During the spring season, I had the opportunity to work on a freelance project for Emma Richardson, a candidate running for St. Paul’s in Toronto. She reached out to me through my website and personal connections, looking for a designer to craft visual materials that would make her campaign both recognizable and compelling.
At the start of the project, Richardson needed a cohesive branding approach that would reflect her values, energize her supporters, and differentiate her in a competitive race. I designed flyers, postcards, and merchandise (including pins) to distribute across the district, ensuring a strong and consistent visual presence. As the campaign evolved and Richardson transitioned between political parties, I adapted the branding—including color schemes, logos, and overall aesthetics—to align with her new platform while maintaining the core identity of her campaign.
While Emma Richardson did not win the election, her campaign gained notable recognition within the community, helping her establish a strong political presence. This project was my first experience in the political field, and it challenged me to think strategically about how design influences public engagement. Seeing my work contribute to a campaign that resonated with voters reinforced my passion for branding with impact.
