Our branding team, consisting of five designers, collaborated to create the visual identity for the NSCAD Interdisciplinary Graduate Show 2023. The graduates’ projects centered on reframing problems to uncover new solutions, offering fresh perspectives across disciplines.
Concept Development
While the exhibition showcased one project per designer, our goal was also to highlight the graduates’ range of interdisciplinary skills. For the visual identity, we developed a concept based on transitions and growth, visualizing the journey from one state to another to represent the evolution of designers over time.
After establishing our iconography, which symbolized progress and development within the design field, we divided into smaller teams focusing on social media, merchandise, advertising, and printed materials.
Merchandise
I was solely responsible for the design and production of merchandise, including pins, stickers, and tote bags. I created digital mockups for our marketing team to use on the website and social media to promote and fundraise for the event.
Collaborating with the Textile Department, I developed stencils, hand-printed the tote bags, and oversaw the curing process. We produced hundreds of tote bags, selling over half to raise funds for the show and distributing the rest to donors and event organizers. A similar approach was taken with the production of pins and stickers.
Printed Materials
I also designed and produced postcards and an event map featuring project information and event details. These materials helped promote the exhibition within the community, attracting more visitors while providing attendees with a clear guide to explore every part of the event.
Collaboration and Support
In addition to my primary responsibilities, I contributed to social media content, poster design, and installation planning. I frequently coordinated between teams to ensure smooth communication and timely delivery of all project components.
